The modern day Musical Saw is not unlike what might be hanging in your woodshed right now. This unusual instrument is constructed almost identically to a normal handsaw(some players actually uses standard saws for playing purposes). In the early 1900s the Musical Saw enjoyed some popularity in the United States. Now in the 21st century it’s popularity is beginning to grow and it is starting to find an international audience. A link is provided below that will allow you to listen to a piece performed by one of the world’s great saw players Sakita Hajime. The first two minutes of the recording contain the performance(a duet of guitar and Musical Saw) but the last three minutes or so is an interview in Japanese so unless you speak this language just enjoy the first two minutes. Sit back and enjoy the wonder of the Musical Saw, Julian.
